DNA Solution Limited, the first molecular diagnostic lab in Bangladesh, has introduced Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) to detect fetal chromosomal aneuploidies using cell free fetal DNA from maternal blood in Bangladesh.
The information was disclosed at a scientific seminar on ‘Congenital Fetal Abnormalities and Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)’ in a city hotel on Saturday, said a press release of DNA Solution Ltd.
The seminar was jointly organised by DNA Solution Ltd., Obstetrical & Gynecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) and Bangladesh Perinatal Society (BPS).
The renowned gynecologist Prof Dr T A Chowdhury attended the seminar as Chief Guest where BPS president Prof Laila Arjumand Banu was present with Prof Mohammad Shahidullah in the chair.
Prof Samina Chowdhury, President, OGSB, Prof Dr Saleha Begum Chowdhury, Secretary General, OGSB;were present as the special guests along with more than 250 Gynae and Obs specialist of the country.
Jabed Iqbal Pathan said, “We would make available all DNA/RNA based test for the complex diseases in our international standard laboratory so that we cannot send any sample or patients to other countries.”
Noted Neonatologist Prof Dr Md Abdul Mannan, Dr Rezaul Karim Kazal, Associate Prof, Gynae and Obs, BSMMU and prominent Scientist and Educationist Prof Dr Sharif Akhteruzzaman, Department of Genetic engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka presented the current scenario of birth defects in Bangladesh and its importance of newly diagnostic screening NIPT and its advantages.
