Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (MTB) DNA
Why Get Tested?
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) DNA test can detect active pulmonary TB through the identification of active Mycobacterium tuberculosis by RT-PCR.

Also Known as: MTB DNA Qualitative Test
Description:
Tuberculosis (TB), one of the oldest known human diseases is still one of the major causes of mortality, since two million people die each year. TB has many manifestations, affecting bone, the central nervous system, and many other organ systems, but it is primarily a pulmonary disease that is initiated by the deposition of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) is a potentially serious infectious disease that mainly affects your lungs. The bacteria that cause tuberculosis are spread from one person to another through tiny droplets released into the air via coughs and sneezes.
The MTB is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test for qualitative detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) DNA diagnosis. DNA Solution Limited offers detection of all members of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) complex, including M.tuberculosis, M.bovis, M.africanum, M.microti, M.canetti, M.pinipedii. It is a real-time PCR based test that can clinically identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) DNA.
Reason for Referral:
Individual suffering from coughing that lasts three or more weeks, coughing up blood, chest pain, unintentional weight loss, fatigue, fever, night sweats, chills and loss of appetite should be recommended to do MTB DNA test.
Sample Required:
Sputum, Body Fluids (Spinal, Pleural Synovial, Broncho Alveolar Lavage, Ascetic, CSF, Joint fluid), Tissue (Saturate with PVS Solution or normal saline), Urine
Test Preparation
No test preparation is needed.
Test Done by
RT–PCR (Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction)
